All I Want for Christmas...

...is black fishnets and a pair of scarlet high heels. I mean, that's what I want after looking at this saucy card!

But actually what I'd love to know is what *you* want for Christmas. Or Hanukkah. Or Solstice. And I'm even more interested in knowing what you're giving... Because that's the part of the holiday season I like best. Even in crunch times like this—or maybe *especially* in crunch times like this—I like to hear how creative people make the holidays work. (Plus, you know, I'm a voyeur. So any peek into your world that you're willing to share will make me happy.)

I'll start. I'm extremely excited about one specific holiday gift. I bought Georgia a purse that I know she'll love, and I'm filling it with the types of objects you'd find in a purse. Spare change. Loose keys. Condoms. But my favorite item is this one. See, she doesn't *wear* lipstick! I'm actually counting down the days until I can hand over the swag!

Now, if you feel like it, you tell me...

Alison

P.S. Georgia is internet-challenged. So you don't have to worry about her finding out ahead of time. Her reluctance to join the new millennium (or even, you know, the 90s) is one of my favorite things about her.

Ha!

I've decided to buy my sister in law and my brother's sweet new girlfriend Smartballs for Christmas! Better than the usual scarf/candle/bath set type sister in law gifts, I reckon!

Love your present idea for Georgia, she'll love rummaging through it.

The husband is getting another silver Loving Anvil plec, but this time on a leather thong for his wrist, nyum.

And Yves Saint Laurent nice smellies. He loves him some YSL.

Mother in law and Granny are getting this: http://www.lulu.com/content/5180605 I'm in it!

Also a tea brack (homemade) and kitchen clock, respectively.

I want: new boots, new car, intimate piercing.

Yay! What color 'nets, SG?

And Jo—I love your list! I wish I could get you one of your wishes. I'd chose the intimate piercing, of course.

Forgot to say in my post, that I'll give away copies of both of my Christmas collections to some random commenter today. Because I am in that giving sort of mood!

Oh that sounds like a wonderful gift Ali. You're inspiring me to get creative this year - albeit a little late but better late than never right?

I been so clusterfucked this year I haven't been able to even think straight about the holidays. Normally I'm halfway done shopping by now.....

Hubby's getting hockey tickets which I'm paying off in installments because the damn things are so expensive. But it's the last game before the olympics, against one of our biggest rivals, AND to top it off, they're playing on his birthday. Can't beat that.

Mom - well, if I buy her another purse or pair of shoes, my father will disown me, so that's going to take some thinking about.

Dad got the new Apple mouse for his Mac. My brother was in charge of that one. LOL.

Still looking for something for my besties. Thanks for the inspiration - I'm sure Georgia will love it!

On my list: a new laptop or an iPhone, a new digi cam cuz mine just pooched out on me, a 67 Impala, and a black leather motorcycle jacket. Of course I'm expecting NONE of these things, but a girl can dream.

I'm dreaming of this one, Angell. God, it's so pretty.

If your mom has too many shoes/purses, what about pretty stockings to go with the shoes she already has? I am a huge fan of We Love Colors. (And no, I'm not paid to say that. I just think they make beautiful tights!)

Happy holidays, AT and everyone! And, yay, Jo, congrats on the publication!

[No need to put my name in the hat, as I think I already have the book—I definitely have at least one of your fantastic Xmas anthos, and I'm pretty sure I have both.]

Hi guys!

Me and my husband are baking cookies and popcorn balls this year for everyone in the family. Money is a little tight and everyone loves cookies.

For Christmas all I want is enough money to join the RWA.

Jeremy, thanks for pointing out the link in Jo's list!

Tales from the Irish Blogosphere sounds like a killer gift! And check this out: All proceeds from the sale of each book, compiled on an entirely voluntary basis, go directly to Focus Ireland, who provide services and support for people who are homeless across Ireland.

Oo, thanks guys, my link didn't work, astonishingly :)

That was actually last year's publication, the editor put it all together herself. I'm in it and I'm mentioned in K8's sweet house story, or at least, my messy house is :)

It's good, actually. Though I do say so myself.

This year, rather than exchange a bunch of presents for each other, my family has "adopted" a young family in our hometown through a youth services nonprofit with which we're familiar. So instead of buying things for each other, we all got to buy things on the list of needs/desires for this family. I am thrilled with the idea and actually wonder why it never occurred to us to do it before!

Alison Tyler said...

Oh, wow, Emerald. That's really awesome! There's a local bookstore we visit that does something like that with books for kids in need. The books are pre-selected by children's teachers, so they suit the kids' desires and interests. Lots of people I know add a few of these books to their own shopping when they go to the store!

I'm late to this one(life has been handing me lemons and I'm squeezing like hell...so far I've made lemonade, lemon slushie, bleached my hair and peeled wallpaper with the stuff, I swear!).

I'm just now starting to figure out what I'm getting my man...on the short list are some woodworking things, a new set of headphones(he's a wicked audiophile) and I really want to get him something sexy. Haven't figure that out yet.

One of my favorite gifts we're doing is for my nephew. My sister live in Gainesville, FL and my poor nephew just adores snow. Last year we sent him this little testtube of fake snow - add water and tada! a little pile of snow!

Well, this year we're sending him a pack of the stuff they use for movie sets! Add water and you get 17 gallons of snow! It can be packed for snowballs and the whole get :D My mom's going down for the holiday and my aunt(who lives in FL) will be joining the crew. My mom already knows what he's getting and is SO psyched. She's going to make sure we get pics of them playing with it :D

I think if I were going to be flying down for the holiday I'd rent a snowcone machine and set up a huge snowball fight ;)
