"A Sexy Sort of Spying"

Cuffing Kate is now out with a new cover in the UK (but the old cover in the US), as part of a 12 Shades of Surrender series. On Tuesday, Saskia Walker will be doing a 30-minute Q&A at Mills & Boon to promo the series of sexy novellas.

That's the good news. The less good news is that my novella, Cuffing Kate, recently received a very detailed 1-star review in which the reader felt my character was stalker-ish/creepy.

I must be jaded, because the thought that her behavior might be seen as "creepy" never even crossed my mind! (Even though I could see the reader's point when I read her write-up.) I'm extremely grateful for Rachel Kramer Bussel who put up a 5-star review. I don't know if she wrote her review specifically in response, but she definitely nailed my desires in penning the heroine.

Bondage Curiosity and Fulfillment

Kate is curious about bondage, all the more so after she reads her roommate's diary and realizes she's just rebuffed a hot date because he wanted to handcuff her. Whether or not reading someone's diary is the right thing to do, it's a sexy sort of spying, and builds Kate's anticipation. She is bold enough to seek out restraints for herself, in a tantalizing sex toy store scene, one of the things I liked most about this short story--that this bondage newbie wasn't just waiting for bondage to come to her, but seeking it out. Does she find it? Oh yes, and it's even better than her fantasies, but I think the buildup here is the best part, as Kate fantasizes about what surrendering will feel like. Is Kate perfect? No, but that doesn't make her any less compelling of a character, and if you're into bondage (or curious about it like Kate), you'll want to check out Cuffing Kate.

Damn. Thank you so much!

Alison
