Rome, If You Want To

Oh, Rome. I am reliving the series right now, and I have fallen back in love with so many of the characters. I don't lose my head over TV that often, but Rome did me in.

On my *reading* schedule so far this year is...

And that's just my start... (plus, there's a BINGO cover in the mix)!

How about you? What titles are on your To Be Read Shelf?

XXX,
Alison

Oh Rome. Le sigh. I haven't been able to find another series that grabbed me so much. I've sat through so many bad movies just to get more of Ray Stevenson, but nothing can compare to Titus Pullo.

My to-read shelf is a manic collection from re-reading the LOTR trilogy to starting the James Bond series, but you're looking for smutty details, aren't you? 2013 is going to be the year of the anthology for me. I really want to check out Steamlust from Cleis - it's been on my list for ages.

I also need to get my hands on a new zombie anthology, and Coming Together recently released one (I think you might even have a story in it) and a fairy tale erotica/erotic romance anthology -- I really want something that has a lot of darker stories similar to Angela Carter and Tanith Lee, so I have some research to do. The last one I picked up was sexy but more tongue-in-cheek.

Definitely need to check out Thrill Seeker now -- the cover grabbed me yesterday on Twitter and the blurb made up my mind for me.

Fifty Shelves of Grey is also on the list, if for no other reason than to read the War of the Worlds part.

Justine Elyot's On Demand will probably my birthday present to myself this year. Kind of a sucker for hotel sex stories.

Warning: Come To Him stops waaaay before you'll want it to! Please lobby Justine to write more of it!

I'd suggest you read my latest collection, Give In: Stories of Erotic Submission, but you've probably already read them all - you bought many of them for your anthologies!

I will have to check out Rome...I'm not much of a TV person - don't even get cable, so I rely on other people's suggestions. So, thanks! As for reading...I've got "Duty and Desire" at the top of the list, and "Seductress" - but I want to get a hold of your anthology..."69".

Very excited to be on your list, thank you!

Annemarie, I'm glad Thrill Seeker sounds good to you! Have you tried Janine Ashbless for Tanith Lee/Angela Carter-informed erotica? Her 2 anthos, Cruel- and Dark Enchantment are both wonderful (single author collections, not Janine as ed).

Ah, yes, Rome...such a thoroughly wonderful immersion. I've actually found that it is especially fun when you listen to Dan Carlin's "Hardcore History" podcasts on the Roman Empire - a delicious mixture of fact to go along with the hot dramatic action of Rome.

My shelf is a combination of assorted books laying around the house and the reading list on my Kindle. There's the guilty pleasure of a Jack Reacher thriller, "The Man With the Golden Gun" on my bedside table for when I read it aloud to my girl (AnneMarie, you and she would get along, I suspect), "In Praise of Slowness" on my desk, "Alive in the Writing" next to my recliner, and "The Myth of Happiness" and the tail end of "Cloud Atlas" vying for top position on my kindle. The latter is so wonderful that I am putting off finishing it, I don't want it to end...

Tricky bingo today, Alison - I thought "Make Me" was one, because I saw a guy in a suit, but NO! And I discounted "Picture Perfect" because it's the same cover art as "Matching Skirt & Kneepads."

Way to make us pay attention...
